Troubleshooting Email Bounces

Email bounces refer to emails that have not reached their destination and have returned a "bounce" message describing the reasons for the delivery failure. These reasons can include:
  • A malformed email address
  • An email address that does not exist at the destination domain
  • An end user mailbox that is full, restricted, or disabled
  • An unavailable server at the destination domain
  • A high spam score
  • User or corporate level blocking of your sending domain or address
  • Miscellaneous reasons (would need to be analyzed)
Note that Vacation/Autoreplies are not bounces and indicate that the message was delivered.
How can I diagnose a bounce?
Normally, the reason for the bounce is within the bounce message. Sometimes, however, the header of the bounce message may need to be examined to determine the reason. In Outlook, with the message open, click on the file menu, then the "Properties" button. The "Internet Headers" text area will have the full details for further analysis. (You can also paste the headers to https://mxtoolbox.com/EmailHeaders.aspx for a more readable format). For any further analysis, please contact Jujama support.
