Slido Setup

SLIDO Integration

Jujama's Slido integration allows you to utilize Slido within Jujama sessions or as a specific tab within Jujama. Additionally, the integration allows passing the attendee's name, company, and email address to Slido, enabling full analytics within your Slido account. (Note that for GDPR purposes, by using your Slido account, as controller you take responsibility as Data Controller for the potential transfer of PI from your Jujama conference to Slido)

Enabling Slido in Jujama

In order to enable your Jujama Event to recognize Slido URL's and also to enable passing through the user information to Slido, you must first enable the option on a per-conference basis in Jujama Admin. This setting can be found under Setup->Settings->Integrations. Click the checkbox to enable Slido and then select any user parameters you would like to pass through to Slido.

Obtaining the Slido URL

Jujama only requires the Slido URL. (The full embed code is not needed). In Slido, this URL can be found by clicking on your event code on the center top of the admin screen and is found under general settings as shown below. This URL can then be used within a Jujama session or custom menu tab.

Adding A Slido URL to a Jujama Session

In Jujama Admin, under Manage Event Content -> Agenda -> Manage Agenda, select the Actions button on an individual session item and then select Edit. Within the session edit screen, under the "Settings" section, set the "Polling/Chat Display" dropdown to "Slido". Then, enter the Slido URL (not the full embed code) that you have created within Slido. Another option "Slido Default View" selects the initial Slido screen loaded.  Two forms of Slido Urls may be entered:
Standard format: https://app.sli.do/event/xxxxxxxxx
Room format (If using rooms feature): https://app.sli.do/event/xxxxxxxxx?section=xxxxxxxxxxx

Adding a Slido URL to a Jujama Menu Tab

For Slido implementations that apply to an entire event instead of an individual session, a Slido URL can be assigned to a custom menu tab. Jujama will automatically recognize the Slido URL is being used and will pass through the user information automatically. (if pass through was selected as an option). To assign a Slido tab, first create a menu tab in Jujama Admin in Manage Event Content->Menus by selecting 'Add Menu Item'.  Set a title and display title and icon for the new tab:

Next, in Manage Event Content->Mobile App Tabs/Content select the 'add' button. In the popup, under the 'Name' dropdown, select the tab menu item created previously. Enter the Slido URL in the 'Value' field.

Other Slido Tips

  • Slido Account Event Administrative Options
    • If email address has been selected to pass through from Jujama to Slido, a specific option must be enabled in the Slido account. This can be found under Event Settings -> Privacy -> Require Authentication -> Require email address. This may or may not require a paid Slido plan.
      • Note that if Email is enabled for passthrough and authentication and a user attempts to access a Jujama/Slido session on a second device - Slido will send a PIN number to the users email and require PIN entry to continue on the new device.
    • User name can also be required in Slido by selecting Event Settings -> Privacy -> Require Authentication -> Require Name. (note than unlike adding email authentication this won't cause an email/PIN when logging in via multiple devices)
    • Even though the user information  is pre-filled and passed through from Jujama to Slido, attendees will be able to change their name to anonymous when submitting questions. To prevent this, in Slido settings change Settings -> Features -> Questions -> Disable Anonymous questions. Available in Professional Plan and higher. (this does not apply to voting which remains anonymous)
    • When adding the options to require name or email, if no email or name is passed thru to Slido (if for instance the pass through was not turned on in Jujama Admin), the user will be prompted to enter them. If the name and email are passed thru automatically the user will see a brief flash of the entry screen with the information entered. (the screen flash isn't visible if the required option isn't set, but the user name or email will still pass through)
    • Note that users can adjust their profile information in Slido regardless of what is passed thru initially from Jujama.
  • To specify a particular Slido tab to load first - specify this in the Jujama admin option when you add the URL. For Jujama tabs the URL parameter for Slido starting tab can be appended to the specified URL.
  • Slido cannot "pause" a whole Slido event or be made inactive. Once created in Slido, the link will be operational. To avoid user input before the event starts, turn off Q&A and other features and also make sure no polls are started. This will then still load Slido for the user but they won't have access to any options.
    • There seems to be no way to inactivate a Slido (other than deleting it), even if you set the start date or end date out of range - the Slido event will be operational.
  • If a deleted or non existing  Slido event code/URL  is used,  Slido will give a 404 error and prompt the user for the event code.
  • It is suggested to test the Slido implementation on a test session before the event to be sure user parameters are transferred correctly and to verify Slido side options are correctly set.
    • If testing multiple users - in the Slido embed - under your profile icon - select the logout option before you test the next user. Slido maintains user identity after the first pass through/login so this must be done to appear as another user from the same web browser session within the same Slido event.
    • You can check the user information passed thru under the profile icon in the embedded Slido window.
  • If a Slido event starts without any pass through options enabled, and pass through options are later turned on, after users have accessed - users profiles who previously logged in will not be updated with the new setting. It will only affect new logins to Slido.
